"Building Type Basics for College and University Facilities" varies from some of the other books in the Building Type Basics series because there is a broad range of facilities on the typical educational campus and the basic organization of the text is around these seven types, with each chapter is written by an expert in that area.After introductory chapters on campus planning, sustainability and technology, and historic preservation (which is inherent to most university campuses), the text covers libraries, academic buildings, research facilities, housing, athletic facilities, social and support facilities, and cultural centers.

This is a rather textbook-y textbook. However, architecture is most often about making the soundest decisions for a specific project within certain parameters.

I disagree with the assumed design principles here. Admittedly, I did not attend a university that had such large venues which are obviously necessary for large classes and large groups of people but it's not practical to have unique architecture and exposed beams and large floor plates - the maintenance and repair are going to be huge.
